Jennifer Lopez Is Probably Going To Make Bank From Her New Movie (2024)

Once (and still) Jenny from the block, Jennifer Lopez is always on her way to the bank these days. It’s no secret that people pay J.Lo a *lot* of money to star in their movies, judge reality TV shows, and perform in front of millions—I mean, the list goes on and on.

The actress, singer, and all-around badass is always a box office success. Her upcoming Netflix thriller, The Mother, is sure to be a huge hit and bring in the big bucks.

Last year, Jennifer starred alongside Latin singer Maluma and Owen Wilson in Marry Me, which brought in $50.5 million, according to IMDB. And before that, she played an exotic dancer in the 2019 film Hustlers, which earned $157.5 million, per Deadline.

Plus, the fashion icon is always wearing gorgeous designer clothes, going on stunning vacations, and dropping a cool $6.6 million on a Malibu beach house she calls a "fixer-upper." So, it's pretty safe to say that "Jenny from the block" has officially become "Jenny from the bank."

J.Lo has made a boatload of money throughout her career. Here’s how she got so rich—and what her net worth is now:

Her films have grossed over $3 billion at the box office.

Yup, according to Deadline, her career as an actress has been...lucrative.

In recent years, Hustlers had a record $33.1 million box office opening in 2019 for J.Lo (her 2005 movie Monster In Law made $23.1 million during its opening weekend) and entertainment company STX, per Deadline. Within 10 days, it hit $62 million, according to Forbes.

In total, the movie, which had a $20 million production budget, raked in around $158 million, per Parade.

FYI: J.Lo was a co-producer of Hustlers through her Nuyorican Productions. Still, she told GQ, "I didn’t get paid a whole bunch of money for Hustlers. I did it for free and produced it. Like Jenny From the Block—I do what I love." (While Jennifer didn't make any money upfront, it's likely her production company will be seeing some kind of return on investment with streaming, digital copy sales, etc.)

J.Lo kicked off her career as a dancer.

J.Lo has been dancing since practically forever (she started taking dance lessons when she was 5, per IMDb). By the time she was 18, she was working in a law firm by day so she could afford to do dancing jobs at night.

J.Lo eventually got her big break when she was offered a job as a fly girl (a.k.a. a troupe dancer) on In Living Color, a sketch-comedy series that was huge in the '90s. After that, she landed a gig as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson.

Eventually, Jennifer shifted into movies.

Being J.Lo, she decided she wanted to branch out into film and ended up landing a role as "Young Maria" in the Jimmy Smits movie, My Family. It wasn’t a massive part, but she snagged some decent screen time.

But J.Lo’s movie career exploded after she landed the coveted starring role of Tejana singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez in the 1997 movie, Selena, a gig that paid her $1 million, according to IMDb. (Btw, she also earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role.)

She followed that up with roles in blockbuster films—Anaconda, Out of Sight, and The Wedding Planner, to name a few—and started to earn massive paychecks...like $9 million plus per role.

Her album 'On the 6' made her a superstar.

J.Lo released her debut album On The 6 in 1999, which had hit singles like "If You Had My Love" and "Waiting for Tonight." It went platinum within two weeks, according to Biography. She followed that up in 2001 with the album J.Lo, which hit No. 1 on the pop charts. And with that, J.Lo’s title as a triple threat was solidified. She's made eight albums so far.

Then, there's the tour $$$. J.Lo made $765,000 touring to support On the 6, and that jumped up to more than $50 million for her 2012 Dance Again World Tour, according to Money Nation. (What. A. Jump.)

She's releasing new music soon.

In November 2022, Jennifer took to Instagram to announce that she’s releasing a new album, titled This Is Me...Now. The album will be a celebration of 20 years since her 2002 album, This Is Me...Then. No word on a release date, but it's sure to bring in a lot of sales when it drops.

J.Lo has had a bunch of other gigs, too.

She’s a fashion designer (you can check out her clothing line, The Jennifer Lopez Collection, at Kohl’s), and has her own makeup line called Inglot.

She also had a three-year Las Vegas residency show that made more than $100 million in ticket sales, per People.

And, of course, J.Lo earned tons of cash working as a judge on reality TV competition shows like American Idol (she made somewhere between $12 and $20 million per season, according to Forbes) and World of Dance, where she’s a judge and executive producer. (Cha-ching.) She's also the executive producer of a reality show called, Thanks a Million, that premiered on Quibi (which no longer runs) in April 2020.

Jennifer wasn't paid for the Super Bowl halftime show.

Remember that epic J.Lo concert that took over your TV in February 2020? Well, she did that for free, too. She still made some money off the appearance—sales of her music increased 893 percent, according to Billboard.

Jennifer has several fashion lines and endorsem*nt deals.

In March 2020, Jennifer released a shoe collection with DSW. From heels to sneakers to sandals, they're all pretty affordable—with most of the kicks costing less than $100. She also has a fragrance line whose sales have exceeded $2 billion in sales since its launch, per StyleCaster.

On Instagram, J.Lo has repped luxury brands, like Coach and Versace. She revealed she was the face of the Versace SS20 campaign.

She has her own beauty line.

In 2021, Jennifer launched JLo Beauty, and it was a massive success. The company had net sales of $75.4 million in 2022, according to WWD. Her success also led to a collaboration with Hydrafacial.

Her husband, Ben Affleck, is also worth a lot of money.

Yup, 20 years later, Ben Affleck is back in J.Lo's life for good, and he is bringing a reported $150 million with him, per Parade. The two married in Vegas at a little white wedding chapel ceremony in July 2022. And honestly, it was an incredibly cute story.

What is Jennifer Lopez's net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, J.Lo is now worth a reported $400 million, or $40 million per year. And, if she keeps hustling the way she always has, that number will only increase.

Bennifer has a combined net worth of roughly $550 million. Now, that's a power couple right there.
